SUMMARY: Responsible for monitoring and analyzing events, infractions, and alert activity of moderate complexity related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), U.S. Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other related banking regulations. Performs other related duties as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of a variety of transactions for suspicious activities including but not limited to: branch transactions; trust department transactions; wire transfer transactions. Performs periodic reviews of transaction exceptions, daily flags, and currency transaction reports.

Ensures compliance with currency transaction reporting requirements; reviews and prepares Currency Transaction Reports (CTR), and files to FinCen.

Reviews and files Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) as necessary.

Reviews new account documentation to ensure completeness and compliance. Performs OFAC reviews. Determines risk profile classification for each new account, based on established bank criteria. Re-profiles accounts as required.

Communicates results of CheckSystem/Fraud results to branches as necessary.

Acts as a compliance resource to the line of business as needed.

Conducts suspicious account activity investigations including: research; supported documentation/evidence preparation; findings presentation. Will also perform grand jury subpoenas investigations.

Participates in the Suspicious Activity Committee (SAC). May review and present investigation reports.

Assists with preparation phase of regulatory and audit examinations. May assist with other phases as necessary.

Maintains a proficient knowledge of consumer and banking compliance regulations. Works within established guidelines, policies, procedures, internal controls and legal and regulatory guidelines.

Assists in the coordination of training and in the preparation of training materials for Risk Compliance related education.

Assists with other functions within the compliance department as needed.

Provides mentorship and coaching to less experienced staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree or some college required; five years of compliance monitoring experience within a bank environment. Advanced knowledge of banking regulations including BSA, OFAC, USA Patriot Act, AML, KYC. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a deadline intensive work environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in MS Word and Excel. CAMS Certification desired.
