About the Team: Southwest Pulmonary, a division of Sound Physicians is a group of board certified pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine specialists. Our physicians and advanced practice providers diagnose and treat all pulmonary disorders, including COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, cough, dyspnea, and lung nodules. We service patients through our clinics in the Dallas and Plano communities.

About the Role:

The Patient Service Representative assumes a pivotal role in our practice relating directly and indirectly to patient satisfaction and to the ultimate success of the clinic. Given the integral nature of the position, the front office medical assistant’s demeanor must be reflective at all times of the highest quality standards of professionalism exemplified by Southwest Pulmonary as a division of Sound Physicians. This role will serve as both the first and last point of contact for or patients.

The perfect candidate must be a team player, highly motivated and demonstrate a positive attitude. This individual will assist in checking patients in/out, collecting copays, verifying benefits, scheduling procedures, answering phones, scheduling appointments and other duties as assigned.

The Details: Full-time in office position, Dallas, TX 75231, M-F 8am-5

About the Role:
Performs a wide range of administrative duties to include referral processing, patient registration, verification of benefits, insurance authorizations, patient appointment scheduling, program communication to potential candidates, communication with referral sources and other tasks assigned.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
▪ Responsible for the tracking, coordination and communication of patient referrals
▪ Ensures complete and accurate patient registration, including demographics and current
insurance information
▪ Handles requests from third party referral sources and provides relevant information and
data
▪ Serves as point person for multidisciplinary evaluation process to include patient
scheduling, third party communications, and internal communications
▪ Assembles information concerning patient’s clinical background and referral needs
▪ Contact insurance companies to ensure verification of benefits and prior authorization
approval requirements are met
▪ Reviews details and expectation of referral with the potential patient
▪ Ensures that referrals are addressed in a timely manner
▪ Reminds patients of scheduled appointments
▪ Communication with referral sources to ensure patient information/ registration is
complete
▪ Communicates patient updates between program and referring source

Knowledge :

  • High school diploma, or equivalent and two years of healthcare experience
  • Knowledge of medical practice and care and insurance plan payers
  • Knowledge of physician business procedures and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of front office customer service levels
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
  • Proficiency in the operation of a computer and other office equipment
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers and vendors
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with oral and written correspondence
  • Ability to exercise a degree of initiative and judgment
  • Electronic Health Record (EMR) experience

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in a medical office setting, referrals coordination
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking

Pay Range:

  • $18.00-$23.00 hourly. Exact pay will be determined based on candidate experience, geographical location, and size/complexity of the program being supported.
