Position Summary

In this role, you will be a pivotal member ensuring Nondestructive Testing (NDT) inspections align seamlessly with customer directives and industry standards. As a qualified professional, you'll play a crucial role in setting up and calibrating equipment, interpreting results, and guiding NDT trainees. Your proficiency in organizing and reporting inspection results, coupled with adherence to quality processes, is key. Duties And Responsibilities

The NDT Level II Inspector is responsible for conducting non-destructive testing in compliance with industry standards. The inspector must be qualified in and perform the following tasks:

Equipment Setup and Calibration:

• Set up and calibrate NDT equipment properly.

Result Interpretation and Evaluation:

\n
• Accurately interpret and evaluate NDT results according to codes and standards.
\n
• Understand the scope and limitations of qualified NDT methods.
\n

Inspection Reporting:

\n
• Organize and report inspection results effectively.
\n
• Use methods such as:
  \n
  • Visual Inspection (VT)
  \n
  • Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT)
  \n
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT)
  \n
  • UT Shear Wave Inspection
  \n
  \n

Equipment Management:

• Maintain custody and condition of Level II NDT inspection equipment.

\n
Training and Certification:

• Keep personal NDT training and qualifications current.

\n
Documentation:

• Document inspection results on company Quality Assurance forms accurately.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

\n
• High School/GED education at a minimum.
\n
• Previous Military or industrial training/qualification/certification/experience must be documented to meet Level II requirements.
\n
• As an option, this individual may have been a NDT Level I or NDT Trainee at OII-MSD to meet previous training/qualification/experience requirements.
\n
• At a minimum, this individual will be certified, able to work independently, and proficient in the following methods: VT, MT, PT, UT Shear Wave \n
\n
• Additional certifications of other NDT methods preferred, i.e. RT, ET
\n
• NBPL certification a plus.
\n
• Technical knowledge with submarine and/or surface combat ships recommended.
\n
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with personnel in and outside of the organization.
\n

PROOF OF NDT CERTIFICATION DOCUMENTATION

Applicants are encouraged to include electronic copies of their Level II NDT certifications in Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Ultrasonic Testing Shear Wave (UT) as part of their initial application. Certifications can be from industry, trade school, military, or other relevant sources.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is considered PRODUCTION/OUTDOOR WORK which is characterized as follows.

The shipyard/base/manufacturing work environment; the site may contain mobility barriers with uneven ground level and obstructed pathways. Climatic and environmental conditions at the job site will be indoor/outdoor climate with various temperatures and noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, and etc.
